Melania Trump Wore High Heels to Garden at the White House
Time and time again, Melania Trump's fashion choices have left us scratching our heads (or screaming at our computers) and her most recent sartorial decision is no exception.
On Monday, the First Lady attended a tree planting ceremony at the White House wearing a pair of pink, pointy-toe high heels (which, if the glimpse of red sole is to be believed, are likely Christian Louboutin). During the event, she got down and dirty with a shovel, and the Internet has some unabashed opinions about her choosing to moonlight her formalwear — a pink top and a $4,000 Valentino floral pleated skirt — as a gardening look.
"Did her high heels sink into the ground about 8 inches? I'm not being sarcastic. I truly don't know how she walks on dirt," one person commented on a Facebook video of the event, per Yahoo. The conversation continued on Twitter, with many users straight-up confused about her choice of footwear.
This isn't the first time that Melania Trump has sparked backlash for what some have deemed "inappropriate" outfit choices. When visiting victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas in 2017, she caught criticism for wearing a similar pair of high heels into a disaster zone. And in an indisputably horrifying move, she wore a Zara military coat emblazoned with the words "I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?" to visit a detention center where children had been separated from their families.
